Create a widget

A widget is a single age-verification experience attached to a set of products, collections, or your whole storefront.

You can create a popup from either option — the Create widget button in the top right corner or the Create age verification widget button inside the setup guide. Both will open the widget configuration panel.

Configuration Fields Explained

Each field in the widget configuration panel controls a specific part of the age-verification experience. Below is a breakdown of every option.

Edit Name

Click this button in the top right corner to assign a custom name to your widget. This helps you keep track of different configurations if you create multiple widgets.

Visibility Method

This setting determines exactly where the popup appears on your site. You have four options:

• All pages: The popup will appear to visitors on every page of your store.
• Home page:The popup will only appear on your store's primary landing page.
• Specific collections: Use this if you only want to restrict access to certain categories. In the search box provided, you can search for and select the specific collections that require age verification.
• Specific products: Use this if you only need to restrict access to individual items. Select this option to choose the specific products that require verification.

Presets

Here you can access pre-built templates. We recommend choosing one of these as a starting point, which you can then customize to match your brand's design.

Verification Method

Choose the user interaction required for entry:

• Buttons Only:A simple, one-click verification (e.g., "Yes, I am 18+").
• Date of Birth: Requires the user to enter their birth date in a specific format (e.g., dd/mm/yyyy).

Restriction Behavior

This defines the action taken if a user does not meet your age requirements:

• Show Message:Displays a custom error message to the user (e.g., "Sorry, you are not old enough").
• Redirect URL: Automatically sends the visitor to a different URL (such as a generic landing page or a blog post).

Cookie Retention

This setting controls the user's verification experience over time:

• By Session: The user will remain verified only while their current browser session is active. If they close the browser, they will need to verify again upon returning.
• Days:You can set a specific duration (e.g., "7"). The visitor will not be required to verify their age again for the next 7 days, providing a smoother experience for returning customers.
